…is what you will someday be.

In need of some inspiration, I searched out a power thought. Some pertinent and timely words of wisdom from my coach. His gift especially for me. No matter the situation or circumstance, PF always had the perfect tonic for whatever ailed me. Even now, from his vantage point high above us, he is still dispensing some of his much appreciated TLC.

Thank you Coach:

“One of the most sobering thoughts I have ever been confronted with, is this:

‘What you are someday going to be, you are now becoming.’

Right at this very moment in time, you are exactly what you have been in the process of becoming – all your life.

So? Are you the person you dreamed of becoming? How close are you to becoming the type of person you want to be?

Even right now, you are in the process of becoming the person you will be in an hour. Tomorrow. Next month. The coming year. In two years. Five. In a decade.

And the habits? Those you have now – and will begin to acquire and accumulate – determine the person you will eventually, someday, become.

So if you are not now doing the things that you need to do, to become what you want to be, what makes you believe that you ever will?

What is preventing you from becoming that person? The one you want to become?

It is incumbent upon you to choose to begin now. Situations or circumstances should never determine the when, if or how you begin.

So? Just begin. And begin right now.

For what you are right now becoming, is what you will someday be.”

"To be there when the light goes on." Those few, powerful words, succinctly sum up my quest as a coach. That is really what it is all about. This is precisely what drives me. To have good fortune shine upon me briefly so that I can be present at that very moment. The instant of revelation. When the years of heavy lifting results in it making sense for someone else. The almost audible “click”, followed instantaneously by an unmistakable incandescence. The illumination that can only accompany accomplishment. To see bean in the eyes, the look on the face, a change in stature and the air of confidence overtake and envelope the protoge, the “project” or the late bloomer. That is why I am in it. There may never be a stat for achieving those kinds of victories. But it is by far the most important “w” I will ever achieve.
